We all finally sat down since we were running out of time and thought of doing some serious thinking. We really wanted to make an abstract piece of audiovisual art and so we knew it would be something that had to be poetic. We thought of doing something in line with the French New-wave and have just random shots intercut into our narrative. This is something aggressively done by Lana Del Rey and our video can be said to have been inspired by Del Rey’s videos. Here are a few examples.
Notice how even though there is a very loose narrative being formed, still, it is intercut with seemingly random images of stuff that is only thematically related to the main narrative.
This is the direction that Huzaifaa really wanted our music video to take. He thought that we were seriously lagging behind in keeping things on track, he felt it was important for us to take theses shortcuts and let “art” do our work for us.
The rest of us had our reservations, especially me, but then again, I was the one with the most different tastes in the group. We still felt that something of this sort had to be done to save ourselves from putting up nothing in the end.
As for the direction the music video is going into, I believe we decided that the plot will be a very basic one. A group of students will be playing and one will start chasing the others. As the others will hide, the one who was chasing will start getting upset and will start finding them and will then go on and be embraced by some other student who will be implied to have been his alter ego all along.
I know, this sounds confusing. At this point, even we are not exactly sure as to what this video is becoming in terms of its narrative and the only thing we are a little sure about is the stylistic approach we’ll be taking.
