After we continued to bring up more songs and reject them, Adbullah brought up “Retrograde”, by James Blake.
He played it on his phone and everyone was just like, this is it. It is a beautiful dark downtempo electronic piece of music with a filmic piano loop coupled with a "huge, soaring climax" in Abdullah's words.
James Blake is one of Abdullah's ideals and Retrograde is the song that introduced them, therefore, I will leave the description of this song to him as he talks about it with actual passion.
According to him, "It’s nuanced and complex and tense but also bold and exciting".
We all agree with him and the fact that it inspires several ideas for the visuals. Primarily, we are considering a futuristic theme but that is a debate for the future. For now, let's celebrate the win that the song is finally decided.
