A Music video is defined by different dictionaries in different words, for example, the Oxford Dictionary defines it as "A videotaped performance of a recorded popular song, usually accompanied by dancing and visual images interpreting the lyrics." whereas, Merriam-Webster defines it simply as "a video recording of a performance of popular music".
Similarly, dictionary.com refers to it "a commercial video featuring a performance of a popular song, often through a stylized dramatization by the performers with lip-syncing and special effects."
The Collins Dictionary provides two definitions; An American one " a performance on film or videotape of a musical recording accompanied by synchronized actions, such as a dramatic interpretation of the lyrics or a series of, sometimes surreal, images " and a British one "a video containing music, especially one created to promote a pop song".
While different websites and dictionaries might use different wordings to define a music video, it can essentially be understood as any video that is accompanied by a music recording, usually made to promote the music and star/band.
